OBM – Amended Minutes from Tues 10th October, 2022 – The Railway Tavern Belper
Apologies; Phoebe McMillan, Simon Hudson
Attending: Roger Moors, Carol Brewer, Chris Toner, George Jones, Melanie Parker, Richard Keighley, Dave Higley, (7 attending)
Opening; Chair, Roger Moors welcomed all attending & invited points of discussion as follows;
North Mill Museum visit
Everyone agreed that the closure is extremely regrettable.
All thanked MP for making the connection and tour possible.
Those able to attend the tour, expertly facilitated by North Mill Museum volunteer Ian Hill, all expressed their appreciation for the opportunity, understanding the current emotions and feelings around the closure and the apparent lack of consultation and communication between Trustees and an invaluable group of volunteers.
Additionally, the issue of a possible contribution to the crucial DCC feasibility study (see previous minuted item -August 4th), from any North Mill Museum fund reserves was discussed.
As the study is identified as the prioritised first step to address the necessary progression for the whole complex, and, given that a condition of the proposed planning application includes provision for a museum facility, this idea may be of mutual benefit.
RM to contact Adam Lathbury (DCC) & Pauline Latham MP to pursue this.
It was also suggested that, at some point, twinning links with Pawtucket, USA might be explored as a means of securing funding or support.
Website
The group wanted to record their unanimous acknowledgement of appreciation and thanks, for all the time, effort and talented creative work undertaken by Phoebe, in regards to the leaflet and online presence to date. Everyone agreed that this has been an excellent fundamental contribution that establishes a core communication document for the future years ahead. Thanks also to Pippa and George for their massive input and assistance. The group felt we should build upon this superb foundation and react in time for the OBM presence at the Strutts Autumn Market this Saturday 15th October.
As a result, it was agreed that Dave would imminently upload some basic content already available (leaflet, Constitution, basic event images), onto the website so that visitors can immediately view this.
With Phoebe as website lead, Dave will continue to support and upload any content that is edited and ready to go.
George to email leaflet jpeg to CB so DH/RK can action in time for 15th October.
In time for the OBM Autumn Market event, the website will now include leaflet/Constitution highlighted aims and objectives/Constitution document in full/Supporter or Member Sign Up to mailchimp facility.
