Hello and a very warm welcome to our Spring Newsletter!
It hardly seems possible that our AGM at the Nailers was more than four months ago. If you were there, you’ll know we announced the commencement of a detailed and up to date consultant’s viability report.
Since then, although it may seem as though little has happened, behind the scenes, consultants Amion have been working away to assess the Belper Mills site, consider alternative uses and understand the scale of the financial investment needed.
Over the last few months I’ve attended two Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site Partnerships meetings in which we’ve been appraised of their progress. I’d like to state publicly that I think the work of Amion has been first class; they’ve been excellent communicators, thorough in their research and creative in their thinking. Responses received as part of the public consultation project (see below) all fed into this work. It’s likely that a ‘summary report’ will be published in the late Spring 2024 and we look forward to reading that when it arrives.
